Walking meditation

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Q. Masters, I recently read an article where a woman was talking about the pleasure she took from doing something she called “walking meditation.” This confused me because, until then, all my reading concerning the benefits of meditation related to the metaphysical practice of “sitting.” Book after book advises that mystics have to sit for years in quiet solitude in order to reach even the most basic levels of enlightenment. Can you explain this to me, please?

A. The goal or purpose of meditation is to be able to go within to connect with the energy of your essential soul. This may only be accomplished in quiet solitude. In today’s world the noisiest distraction to contemplation is your over-active brain. Schools of meditation teach you to begin by concentrating on your breathing, saying a mantra, or thinking about something that causes you to forget all else. All of these tricks work to divert your mind away from everyday thinking. But then you may find yourself fixated upon them.

Walking is another method of quieting the mind. At first you are concerned with where you are going, that you are not going to trip, and what the weather is like. With the monotony of the repeated steps, you get into a comfortable pattern that quiets your mind and allows you to hear your inner self.

You will also find an added benefit—the exercise. Physical exertion prevents you from folding up into a ball and impeding the free flow of energy throughout your body. As the body moves you become aware of the need to breathe deeply, bringing in and connecting to the energies of Mother Earth and Father Sky.

Another form of non-sitting meditation is moving meditation. This is normally done to the beat of music. Just allowing your body to respond to the vibration of the rhythm allows you again to tap into the inner workings of your physical self and feel your connection to the Universe.

Orbs

Welcome, fellow souls. We recently tagged along with our channel (Toni) as she attended a seminar in Virginia, and we were delighted in the spiritual openness of the other participants. We found it fun that one of their nightly activities was to search for energy orbs. For you who have never noticed one before, it is the earthly pattern that we take when we are visiting in your time and dimension and don’t bother to formulate what approximates to a physical body.

What we appear to be is a sphere that shimmers. Some souls form recognizable faces within the sphere while others spend their time sending out geometric figures, which is one of our means of communication. If an area contains happy or very spiritual energy such as may be caused by energy healing, meditation, chakra balancing, etc., we come for enjoyment and to share with the human beings there.

A few souls who have the ability to see auras will be able to see us out of the corner of their eyes. We are most easily seen in digital camera images because our energy vibration registers in the pixels. Regular film is not as sensitive and will rarely detect us. As guides we are around you all the time, and this is one way you may be able to verify our existence if you really need to do so.

We feel like saying “Tag, you’re it!” Catch us if you can.

In love, light, and plenty of laughter,
The Masters of the Spirit World

Confirming faith

Q. Masters, I am having trouble with my faith in God. I was brought up in a very traditional religious organization wherein God was defined precisely for me. Into my 30s I accepted this as a governing factor in my life. I have read your words on changing your belief systems through freedom of choice. But where do I go once I have discarded the old programming?

A. Once a precise formula has been thrown out you must invent or accept another. When it comes to a belief in God you first have to define how you feel about “God.” Do you still accept that it is some benevolent being that sits in judgment over all that you do? Or do you feel that judgment is a human quality that only facilitates learning life lessons?

We will tell you what we know about the energy that you call “God,” which we generally refer to as Source. Source is an energy composed of unconditional love. It existed before all else and encompassed everything that was. Source wished to have a way to better understand the magnificence of unconditional love, so it broke off fractions of itself to have varying experiences with and without love. These fractions we call souls.

Since each soul is a little piece of the Source, it can exhibit the same qualities of Source, if it chooses. Therefore, for your purposes, you contain within you a fraction of Source, or as you call it, God. When you “lose your faith in God” you have lost your faith in yourself.

Most people abandon their faith in themselves because they do not want to have to assume responsibility for their actions and the lessons they are experiencing. Because of who you are (and everyone else in creation is), to find your answers you simply have to go within and accept the feelings that you find there. Those feelings are the essence of you as a soul—as a Source.
