Fear of aging

QUESTION: Masters, I have a sadness in my heart that feels like a depression when it comes to aging. I even recall crying about it as a child. It has gotten worse recently after the deaths of my grandparents and my father. Maybe because I have also struggled with a reoccurring health issue, although not terminal, it has affected me greatly and is a reminder of the disease that took my father’s life. Lately I’ve needed frequent reassurance that I still have friends and family around me and that things are going to be alright. I try to find the positives and tell myself that getting older isn’t so bad, but I just can’t shake this feeling. Why do I feel this heavy sadness, impending fear and loneliness about growing old? ~Angie, Canada

ANSWER: You have forgotten who you are – you are an eternal soul who has chosen to experience a human life for a brief period of time. This body you see in the mirror is only the covering you took on for this play in which you currently have a role. You chose to experience fear of termination or cessation of existence. One of the points you wished to learn was that you never die.

Your thoughts, fears, and need for reassurance come from the beliefs by which you have chosen to live this life. You are existing in negative thoughts and ideals. You see only the “bad” and disastrous implications of everything in your life because you see everything as being out of your control, determined by some physical force, and final.

You do not have any confidence in yourself, nor do you love yourself. You do not need others to reassure you if you recognize who you are and what abilities you have. You were broken off from Source, and just as Source is magnificent, all-powerful, and all-knowing, so are you.

Love of self comes from accepting that you have these powers and congratulating yourself on having the stamina and courage to come into this existence and face the tests you are undertaking. See yourself as an explorer who will understand that the next step is rejoining the rest of the souls back at Home where you will see everyone who has returned before you.

Aging is not just a step toward death for the body but is also the accumulation of more understanding and wisdom, both of which allow you to appreciate yourself. Connect with the spirits of your passed relatives to permit them to allay your fears.

QUESTION: Masters I have been through a two-year period of many changes. I’ve just turned 30 and it’s like I was just born. I am happy with the awakening that I have lived, but professionally my path is still not clear. I have been unemployed for some months and have difficulty identifying with something I want and that makes sense to me. I no longer identify with my training area and it seems that the doors close for me. My family has a history of financial hardship, my parents have never been able to continue their plans, despite the potential. Am I in a karmic difficulty? Is there a cycle I need to break? Lately I have wanted to start a business of my own and I wonder if this can be a way for me. Ana, Brazil

ANSWER: You have come into full recognition of the fact that you have freedom of choice in all things in this life. What you are dealing with are all of the beliefs with which you have grown up. Your parents’ difficulties come from the fact that they can’t focus on just one thing and carry through with it. They are dreamers and don’t accept that since they are in physical bodies they have to give some consideration to the physical needs of their bodies and shape their lives to be able to provide for those needs.

You have picked up on this trait and expect that you can just follow your fantasy of a good life without the practicalities of providing for yourself in the usual societal fashion. There is nothing wrong with throwing away all of your training and moving to another field – that is, if you can make enough money to provide for yourself with something else.

You find doors closed right now because you are sending mixed signals out to the universe that you have no idea what you want to do. How can you make a connection with something you have not even considered yet? You envision a business of your own, but what is it? Do you have enough expertise that others will come to you? Dreams are nice but they don’t feed you.

Patience is your most intense life lesson. You don’t give yourself time working with one idea before you flip elsewhere. Try settling into a productive employment, even in your old field, in order to take care of your needs, and then begin to develop something that appeals to you more. If you decide you really like the new job, transition into it full time.

To be happy in your career you must resonate with what you are doing. You can “test drive” something new to see if it is for you without having to commit yourself one hundred percent to the switch: simply stay where you are as you investigate all the possibilities in a different situation. Stop thinking about what “makes sense to you” and start feeling for that with which you identify.

What others say

QUESTION: Masters, I have some Indigo symptoms like allergy, ADHD, hypersensitivity and creativity but I don’t have developed physic abilities like clairvoyance or memory from past lives. Since I’m not sure if I’m really an enlightened Indigo, I can’t fulfill my life mission. Numerology says I should choose an altruistic or philanthropic path related to healthcare or medical field and activities that help people but I’m still not confident enough that I can handle such kind of responsibility. ~Jorge, Brazil

ANSWER: No two souls have identical characteristics while in body form. So-called symptoms indicating one state or another are nothing more than what a number of other humans have displayed and identified with some condition. Likewise, a medical condition does not necessarily produce the same physical symptoms in all those diagnosed with it because these are just guidelines to a conclusion.

In this day and age most humans exhibit some or all of the same characteristics you have. Souls who have not come to Earth as Indigos may or may not have psychic abilities. Anyone who delves into their past lives with the assistance of hypnosis or their guides is not necessarily Indigo. Labeling yourself one thing or another does not make you so, nor would it prevent you from actually being what you have ruled out as applying to you.

What we are saying is that human titles mean nothing. Titles do not give you abilities or take them away. The most important thing is what you believe to be true. Live your life as if you are who you desire to be. Understand that life is a gradual learning experience. You did not come from your mother’s womb able to walk and run, nor did you learn math and science before spending time in school. Being “enlightened” does not help or hinder your progress. Your intention to do something is critical.

Following the ideas of some practitioners of numerology – or astrology, or any other “ology” – will work for you only when you accept it as dictating the way you should act. All souls have freedom of choice. An “ology” can give you some indications of what might fit more easily with your natural energy, but it does not tell you what you desire to do.

Go into your feelings and see what resonates with you. Accept that you are a piece of Source energy and can do the same things Source can. Until you agree that you can do something, you will not be able to do it and it is not even worth trying. To stop trying is to stop living.
