Tourette’s
QUESTION: Masters, Hi I have two children with Tourette’s syndrome which is very difficult for them, me, and my husband to deal with. My youngest son 9yrs has it quite severely and it is affecting him & his life very negatively and distresses him. Is this a soul karmic choice or are there other reasons for it. Is there anything that can help? I worry greatly for his future and his life and wellbeing. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. ~Lola, Australia

ANSWER: Everything that appears within people’s lives is by direction and part of the life lessons they have chosen. Sometimes these lessons are theirs alone, but often they occur because souls have agreed with others with whom they are sharing this lifetime to provide material for their path and experience.
In a situation such as what your children are dealing with, it is also a family problem because it affects everyone in the family. There is a ripple effect, even to those people with whom each of you comes in contact. All are learning lessons about tolerance, patience, having a lack of control, not judging others, and dealing with guilt. Conditions such as these make it very trying to unconditionally accept and love a person who is afflicted.
Negativity increases the intensity of the frustration exhibited. It also draws additional negativity to the person and adds a layer of anger to the mix. It is important to teach the boys the calming nature of positive energy, which may be used to defuse the events.
You have already been working with the boys in getting them to relax. While they are relaxed, begin a visualization of a quiet, soothing location where they feel comfortable and secure. Introduce into this place a “magical” chair in which they can sit to take away the unwanted verbiage. If they practice this it will help them be in control, so when they feel an attack they can transport themselves to their chair and a vacuum that sucks up the words.
