Accepting fear

QUESTION: Masters, I have been on a spiritual path and recently the negative feelings that have been surfacing have been overwhelming. I have become aware of my issues which seem to be plentiful. Am I over-thinking and missing the big picture? What is a good way to face and dissipate all the negative feelings that I have suppressed? At times I also feel a deep sense of fear within. Where does this feeling come from? And what feelings/issues caused the blockage in my right hip area? I also have these weird dreams on and off where something is trying to pull me out of my body or I scream trying to move my body. What are these dreams about? ~KL, Hong Kong

ANSWER: Stop thinking so much! You are concentrating on these conditions you have become aware of and have given them strength to take charge. You are accepting that nothing can be done to control them. Rely on your spiritual training. The first step to spiritual growth is getting rid of judgment. You can’t be uncomfortable unless you accept the cause. You can’t be full of negativity unless you accept it and think you can’t do anything about it.

Fear is a sign you are confronting a life lesson. It is normal. It is neither right nor wrong; accept that and you will be getting rid of judgment. You need to go into the feeling that comes with the fear and ask, “Why am I feeling this way? Where does it originate?” If you judge that it is wrong, you will run away from it and it will intensify. Instead, see that there is another way to look at it; you can see it as a lesson to learn from and then banish. Any time negative thoughts or feelings arise, decide how you want to feel, and then picture yourself in that energy.

The blockages within your body are issues you are failing to face. Ignoring a problem does not make it go away. Just like the fears, you have to go after the cause. Meditate and ask your body what you are missing. Your dreams are trying to tell you to become active in your own spiritual life. Learn the lessons, go to the positive, send the negative away.
