Incredible power of the mind

QUESTION: Masters, I’ve been told that my physical ailments are psychosomatic; I create them in my mind. They’re painful and the suffering is unreal. I’ve had a few chest pains and I don’t know whether to believe they’re signs of actual heart problems or if they’re also psychosomatic. Why would I do this to myself? And are these chest pains something to be concerned about? ~Lydia, USA

ANSWER: What is experienced while in a human body on Earth is chosen by all souls before they enter into the body. Once in the body, they bring to themselves that which they need in order to have those experiences.

You have repeatedly dealt with lessons concerning guilt and punishment in this and past lives. You see yourself as not worthy of being happy or pain free. You have always blamed yourself for things that have not worked out the way you desired. Once you have experienced a painful disorder, your mind has adopted it as a way to punish you for infractions.

All souls are pieces of Source energy and have the same powers and abilities of Source. One of these is the ability to create what you wish to experience. In order to create a pain-free existence, you must accept that you have the power to change things in your life.

Start with manifesting a single day or hour without pain. See in the place of pain a “love only” area around you. If the pain begins to return, ask your higher self why it is there. This will take you back to an incident in which you accepted the pain in place of the hurt that was facing you at that time. Examine the situation and see that you do not need to take the pain because you are really not at fault. Do this each time pain appears.

As uncomfortable as your pain is, you see it as a comfort zone because you know all about it. To not have the pain would be dealing with the unknown, and that terrifies you. Your conscious mind wants predictability – you find it reassuring.

The mind is very powerful. It has the ability to manufacture pain and disability as well as health and happiness. You have freedom of choice and may choose to shut out the pain and feel only the joy. This will take a concerted effort at examining all your motivations. Don’t run away from this challenge, but believe you can, know you can, and then change your life.

At this minute there is no physical reason for the chest pain except your fear. If you let it remain, it can cause a physical ailment to justify your anxiety. You can do this if you desire.
