Responsibility to Earth family

QUESTION: Masters, I don’t feel I love my mother and I don’t want to help her with her financial issues sacrificing myself since she has her own money and she has my brother and sister that she has done anything for them in any situation. She is always helping them and in many situations, I have to deal myself with my own problems because she never cared too much with them. Am I wrong or selfish to think like that? ~Luciana, Brazil

ANSWER: In the spiritual sense, nothing is considered wrong – or, for that matter, right. Everything that occurs happens for the lessons that can be gained. Your Earth family is just that, some souls that enabled you to be born into a human body. As souls, they are not related to you in any other sense. You may have contact with them during this single lifetime and none other.

You chose to be in this situation so that you could explore your feelings about societally imposed responsibilities, honoring yourself as a soul choosing a physical experience and dealing with various attributes such as guilt, selfishness, and issues of control.

Your mother is a manipulative, negativity-loving person. Up until this time you have tended to give in to her demands, and she is using you. Your brother and sister have not been so easy to control, which she respects and rewards by giving them what they ask for.

For almost the first time, you are questioning the entire relationship within your family and starting to see that what is demanded of you is not of any benefit to your learning process. Society tells humans that they should take care of their elders – but that is mostly so that the society does not have to be responsible. They say you are selfish and unloving if you don’t do as asked. That is a ridiculous conclusion that serves them but not you.

As you are aware, your mother does not really need your assistance. She wants it just to prove you are under her control. You have freedom of choice. You do not have to do as she requests, and there is no need to love the negative human she is portraying.

What is of greater significance in this situation is loving yourself and honoring the spiritual journey you are on. You are here to discover that you are a piece of Source energy, with all the powers and abilities that implies. Self-love comes from the acceptance and realization that the lessons you are dealing with will allow you to make the choices from which to grow in understanding and wisdom.

There is nothing wrong with ignoring her and even separating yourself from the rest of the family, as well.

Life’s struggles

QUESTION: Masters, I’m struggling with life. I think I always have. I feel like a square peg in a round hole. As I get older, I seem to isolate myself more. I’ve lost all my oomph and don’t know how to get it back. My daughter says I am naive and was born in the wrong century. Interacting with people stresses me. I was unsuccessful in the profession I trained for, self-sabotage and mental health issues didn’t help. My childhood was abusive, but I see that now as a life lesson I chose. Are you permitted to give me a hint as to my life’s purpose? Does it possibly involve the Spiritualist Church? ~Caroline, Ireland

ANSWER: Your abusive childhood formed a pattern in which you feel trapped. Your mental issues and the self-deprecating and self-sabotaging behavior have kept you from developing a sense of who you are. You still identify with that fearful, controlled child who could make no decisions for yourself.

Your purpose is to accept that you are a piece of Source energy with the powers and abilities to be all-powerful, all-magnificent, and all-creative. You are not naïve, but rather overly sensitive to the way you think other people see you. Your desire to please others to avoid being punished has shaped your entire life. You can see this in your interactions with, and avoidance of, other people.

When you were working, you were so conscious of other people and their demands that you let that direct what you were doing, even if it was not what you had been hired to do. This sabotage further complicated the way you felt about yourself, seeing only that you were unsuccessful in everything you tried.

It is time to understand yourself, who you are: a soul having a human experience and finding out ways to enjoy this life. The Spiritualist Church could be of great assistance in discovering what your journey could be like. Since you shun making decisions so as not to be responsible for anything, replacing old indecisions with religious dogma is a gentle transition.

But with this new step, don’t do anything or accept anything unless it feels like it resonates with you. If you follow certain procedures and then they become burdensome, release them and go on to something else. This is just a beginning – your training wheels, which you will not need forever.

Really seeing your life

QUESTION: Masters I feel like I’m stuck. A few years ago, I went through crisis and started to heal myself after that. I’ve learned that my own energy defines my experiments. Now I feel like that after many years work nothing has changed. It feels like that no matter how much I change; my life won’t change. And I really don’t know any more what to do. ~Virpi, Finland

ANSWER: Your life has changed. You have accomplished much, but as you have done so, your perspective has also changed, and you therefore perceive a new starting point. When at a new beginning, what is ahead looks daunting and impossible. It is like when you went from primary school to middle school and then on to university or professional school. Each seemed as if you knew nothing and were never going to get anywhere. You sensed that all the prior work accomplished nothing, but in reality, all that work made it possible for you to be able to move on.

You have been completing your life lessons, and that has allowed you to understand about energy and how each soul creates their own realities. Being in the midst of the changes, you don’t see them. You have manifested the changes, as you are aware, but since you don’t know what you can do with them, they appear to be insignificant.

You are at a turning point, or crossroads, where it is time to find something about which you can be passionate. A passion will pull you through each day and make you want to get up and continue with life. You had not planned anything specific before coming so the choice is open.

You have awakened to your essence and the purpose for which souls come to the duality, and you are now in a position to assist others in achieving this awareness. You are very creative, although you have not used this for anything, and it is something that could bring you together with others and allow you to share your remarkable wisdom with them.

Step out of the pattern that has felt so comfortable, albeit inhibiting, and experiment with brightness and light in the world. Find hobbies that please you and bring you joy. Get out of that rut and see the world anew.
