Spiritual help for a physical job

QUESTION: Masters, was I naïve? Did I have any impact? Was what I was doing just in my head? My son was one of thirty-three boys trying out for the high school baseball teams. To assist him, I worked with him at his soul level. I placed him in a Holon of Balance (octahedron); called in angels of sports; prayed for Father/Mother God, his higher self, his guides, his angels to infuse him with energy/light to help him be the best he could be during tryouts. He was one of five cut at the end of tryouts. What happened or didn’t happen? He wasn’t thrilled when I reminded him that when one door closes another opens. How do I guide him now? In what direction should he go?  ~Louise, USA

ANSWER: You created a perfectly good non-physical support system, but you forgot to include your son. Working with him at his soul level did nothing to help him with his confidence and sense of self-worth. You concentrated on his physical attributes but not his mental/emotional ones. He was not as confident in his own abilities as he needed to be. He suffered from stage fright, resulting in his talking himself out of his own success.

Better would have been a discussion of how he felt about the upcoming tryouts: where he thought he had strengths and where he felt he had deficiencies. A realistic evaluation of his chances to make the team and what he needed potential help with prior to the tryouts would have helped with his confidence.

He became quite freaked out when he saw the prowess of some of the other students. Many had played on traveling leagues and possessed much experience. His prior experience paled in comparison. Your son has the potential to play with these boys, but he needs to know and believe that he can. When he saw what others could do he felt inadequate and lost all composure.

The direction from here is up to him. He would be better in a solitary sport rather than a team sport. Cross country, track events, tennis, or swimming are more appropriate. If he still wants to try baseball, he needs to get some coaching from some of the other possible areas such as park districts or church leagues. Sports at the level of high school and beyond are extremely competitive and not just for fun anymore. He needs to make the decision whether to commit to sports or academics or another interest.

Calling your lessons to you

QUESTION: Masters, I have been on a spiritual journey now for the past few years. After many tumultuous life experiences, I now understand that I am a soul growing through lessons learnt in my physical body. I now have one major stumbling block to my search for spiritual fulfillment and that is my volatile relationship with my daughter. I love her very much but she is generally rude and abusive to me and I react badly to that. I find it drains my energy living with her. She is 19 and not about to leave home. I would like to resolve the issue of so much negative energy being generated on a daily basis between us, but I am at a loss as to how to deal with it. ~Diana, New Zealand

ANSWER: When you have worked through most of your life lessons, you bring to yourself the next ones you wish to work on. Your daughter is there to let you work on responsibility concerns, anger issues, self-worth and self-image perspectives, and energy vampirism—taking your positive energy and replacing it with negativity.

You still feel responsible for your daughter even though she is an adult. She wants you to feel that responsibility so that she does not have to deal with such issues. When she is rude and abusive she is testing her power over you and what you will take—the limits of your lack of self-worth, which allows her to treat you the way she does. Her behavior would not be able to affect you the way it does unless you thought you deserved such treatment or were not worthy of anything better.

You react badly to the abuse because you hate yourself for not sticking up for yourself. What someone says or does to you can hurt only if you accept there is truth in what they are telling you. If you don’t know yourself, you have to rely on the rest of the world to tell you who you are. This is what your daughter is doing.

Wouldn’t it be easier to know who you are so others had no control over you? The first step for you is to rid your life of negativity. Any time a negative thought creeps in, a negative emotion rears its head, or you feel anything other than total positive energy is the time to act. Begin by replacing anything negative with a positive thought or emotion. If your daughter gets rude, remember her as a sweet baby in diapers. If you start to lose your temper, think of the most pleasant thought that occurs to you. Start each day with the affirmation that it is a beautiful, fantastic day.

Once you live in positive energy and refuse to let negativity in, you will see what actions of yours allowed your daughter to take the upper hand. You will see that you do not deserve to be treated with disdain, because you are as worthy and beautiful as all unconditionally loving souls—which is who you are.

Soul’s nighttime activity

QUESTION: Masters, you have mentioned before that the majority of our soul enters the spiritual plane while our physical body is asleep. Does that have anything to do with why we sleepwalk and sleep talk? Do the things said or done have anything to do with what our higher self is doing at the moment, or are they simply random? Your answers are very much appreciated. ~Xuehen, Singapore

ANSWER: While the physical body needs time to rest and rejuvenate, the soul does not. To sit all night inside a body that is unconscious is wasted time, so your soul goes visiting. Sometimes you will visit friends, other times relive a section of a prior life or try out an experience that you have observed others having.

Your higher self is the unconscious aspect of the human body that contains your memories and history of experiences. These experiences include things that your body has done or observed. These observations may be of actual occurrences or ones recorded by others, including movies, novels, and the imaginings told you by these people. The physical experiences are also contained within the brain.

The body may be involved in one activity while your higher self is involved in another. Your mind may be replaying a sporting event you participated in, while your higher self is learning about expressing unconditional love in various ways. Since the mind is in control of the physical body, its activities may be reflected in motion within the body while mostly asleep. This may be movement such as in walking, or it may involve a talking out of the situation the mind is working through.

That is not to say that the higher self never has an impact upon the physical body while it is at rest. It may, but it rarely does.
